you could've done this from the start you know? you just dug yourself into a round-about argument.

though i do admit i get . .cranky, i would not stand in the way of someone helping themselves instead of spoon feeding them info.

graduate of the school of hard knocks here.

if you desire a personal apology . . we can PM about that. tongue.gif

no need, i never really took the harassment seriously.

my complaint was pretty straightforward, "why release a scientific hardware on a consumer market with no deep support?"
in my opinion Titan V would've been a better fit in the Quadro market, having better hardware/firmware and support quality.
if profitability was a concern they could rise it to $5000~$6000 and most researchers would still find it a bargain.

but since theres already an announcement that Titan V would gain full support from Nvidia then theres really nothing much to complain about.

just take a look at the ROPs. quadros are rendering machines. looks like the titanv has just enough to render a 3d model at a much lower resolution than expected for a quadro.

there are a lot of points to be made using a ~tesla product and add a few ROPs. would explain alot about the gaming @4K.

to make it fair, Titan V isn't a full V100 either, it has one section of it's HBM controller chopped off, making it so that it has less cache and ROPs as well.
so if we put it on the Quadro roster $6000 does sound like a bargain, basically setting off as a replacement to Quadro P6000 ( GP102 ).

while a full V100 could be priced at a respective $9000.

well yeah all can be attributed to the binning process of tesla than coming out with another product which means a huge cost increase w/manufacturing . .those ROPs aren't from magic, right?.

if my memory serves me . .no other volta chip has ROPs.

from what i've heard Teslas have ROPs, just disabled.
or to put it in another word, Teslas and Quadros of the same chip comes from the same batch, just binned differently.
in the past ALL cards came from the same fermi/kepler/maxwell chips . geforce/quadro/tesla.

check the block diagram/specs of volta, this is first card for ROPs, tesla is headless, none needed.

if that ampere rumour hasn't been debunked wouldn't be surprised if nvidia starts to segment their manufacturing.

volta AI; tesla and titanV(failed teslas but has ROPs) amphere (no tensors but ROPs) gaming/renderingwork for quadro/geforce.

i smell it in the air.

nevermind . .that was gas. redface.gif
