The threads you speak of should be on the fan itself, not the case.

What aDyerSituation said.

Most case fan holes are big enough for screws go through and tread into fan housing hole. wink.gif

The Halos come with screws to got through case, through Halos and into thread into fan.
Fans are normally secured to a case by using little blunt ended #6 sheet metal screws designed for the job by inserting the screws through the mounting holes in the case and screwing them into the mounting holes in the fan frame. A new fan will not have any threads in the mounting holes but the screws will cut their own threads in the plastic of fan frame. This is what the screws look like:

Most fans come with their own screws but if you don't have any and can't or don't want to buy them somewhere locally or online, you can always substitute regular # 6 pan head sheet metal screws; any decent hardware store or home center will have them. Just be aware that they will have a sharp point on them although you can always cut that point off.

You have to make threads with the screws. I would pre thread before putting them in. You don't have to but that's what I do.

Also the back should be an exhaust fan.

Alternatively, you can also get silicone rubber fan mounts like these here.

Various ones can be found quite cheaply on eBay as well. Has the advantage of not having to screw anything in, is usually just as solid and is sometimes a bit quieter.

I don't think those rubber / silicone screws will work with both fan and Phanteks Halo.

I don't think those rubber / silicone screws will work with both fan and Phanteks Halo.

The mounting holes on the case are actually slots in which the silicone "screws" won't hold well.
