The Asus NovaGo was announced last week at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit, and now the company is sharing additional specifications on one of the first Windows On Snapdragon devices. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and running Windows 10 S, Asus is promising a convertible tablet with up to 22 hours of battery life capable of running most of your usual Windows applications (even non-Store / UWP apps so long as they are 32-bit and don’t require kernel mode drivers).

How does this work exactly then? Based on everything I've read about Windows 10 S it's basically a closed ecosystem like Windows RT.

Edit: and why does it not support 64 bit programs? The snapdragon is 64 bit, windows is 64 bit, and they don't have to deal with BS from Intel because they don't own the 64 bit standard.

I thought Intel got all pissy about them infringing on their X86 instruction sets, even via emulation. Curious how they managed to pull this off without stepping on the giant's toes

I once cared, but since a proper Windows phone won’t happen, meh.

I heard some have a free upgrade to W10 pro, and the 32bit is due to the nature of the emulation.

Pretty sure MS is still a Bigger Giant than Intel.

I don't see how Intel could do anything to Stop MS from making an Emulation Layer. I'm sure not having 64bit emulation support is because it is not fully ready. MS makes some of the best Emulators, they are extremely gifted when it comes to programming. From what I've seen online, They have they nailed the x86 emulation performance on ARM. Intel should be scared.

MS played a big part in Intel's Claim to Fame. They can still play a large role in the downsizing of intel too. ARM Chips and AMD are two forces that are going to take a decent sized chunk out of Intel's bottom line over the next decade. With their inability to make well performing low power chips for a low cost.

Doesn't help they are not using the new snapdragon chips either, that are across the board 30%+ faster.

I could use a cheap windows laptop with a good battery. My Surface does the job, but it is heavy and keyboard isn't that great. And So Done with Android tablets and iPads for any real use.

I'll wait for next generation of these laptops packing a faster Snapdragon and bigger battery and super thin. I would really like 24hr+ battery life with near max brightness.
