Well, there's nothing wrong with that. I don't agree that that element is missing from BF1. A more cohesive team still wins 100% of the time, given similar individual effective levels, but playing by yourself could, indeed, be more forgiving than in previous iterations of the game. In any case, I don't see that changing, though. They're making games nowadays to maximize appeal to target audiences, and the casual players are in demand. The franchise is all about teamwork, but they don't want to leave the newcomers with a few hours a week of time investment to feel like it was money wasted.

Wanting a challenging game, that is difficult to master is misguided? Other posters on this forum, youtubers, and anecdotally, all the players on my BF4 friends list complain about bf1 being too casual. I think my observations are in line with the BF community.

As to your comment about me not knowing what a skill gap is:
I'm in div.1 for every major infantry category in bf4: win%, SPM, KD, and accuracy. I understand the skill gap as it relates to the battlefield series, which is the series this post is about, so any other FPS need not be considered.

You're a troll, with nothing constructive to add to conversation, only personal attacks. I'm glad I need not be bothered to listen to you.
The funny thing is my post was a comment integrally about your point of view, while you're the one implying I'm illiterate. One is a personal attack; the other isn't.

In any case, I apologize for tuning out when you mention that players jumping and running erratically to avoid being shot is a staple of what the franchise needs to recover in order to maintain the "skill gap".

You also made some glaring mistakes in regard to your comparisons between BF1 and BF4. For instance, your hipfire comment is erroneous because guns in BF4 have more potential for hipfire accuracy than any gun in BF1 (example: P90 + laser + ergo grip vs any analogous Assault weapon in BF1). Your spread cone comment is also irrelevant because both installments have similar spread mechanics. The rest of the comparisons are mostly subjective, but the comment about maps being too big is a weird lack of understanding of the origins and objective of the series.

As for how your stats should give you credibility, well, they don't. I can make the same claims you did and counter with that. Argue with facts and sound logic and people will listen. Otherwise, they won't.

In fact, I'd even say recon is "easy" when they're in close quarters, rather than far away. Flares are pretty absurd.

Bolt actions have always been pretty irrelevant to victories and teams playing to win, and just now that they decided to throw recons a bone (so that they can actually help their team, EVEN when they don't want to), you want them to go back to being useless nuisances again.

They're still largely irrelevant in BF1, so I don't know why you think making them even more so would make people suddenly go "well, damn, I better start helping my team;" at the cost of removing freedom from the game.

You compared my post to posts on battlelog, implying that the "childish stuff there" was of better quality than my post. That comment was a thinly-veiled personal attack.

I mentioned running and jumping as ONE of the things that separates a skilled player from an unskilled one; anything that helps you stay alive longer such that you can return fire is a skill to be mastered. It takes skill to jump, flick your mouse in the direction of fire, and return fire accurately in a short time period; the ADAD tactic in bf1 is less-skillful.

Hipfire spread, across the board, is less in bf1. Vertical recoil is less in bf1, and the skill required to manage recoil dynamics is lower bf1.

I will not be wasting anymore of my time responding to you.

I don't see where jumping around like a loon when someone is firing at you is a "skill." Those people usually lose out to people like me who just take the time quickly, yet carefully aim. It's not really any harder to hit someone jumping or moving back and forth (from medium to short range anyway), Battlefield has always been more about being in the better tactical position and getting the jump on your opponent then about jumping and weaving while firing like COD or Halo or something.

On point: BC2 was so very good because the multiplayer maps were some of the best. I don't think the programmers at Dice understand this and we will just get BF4 with BC2 characters and weapons. With a decline in the quality of the multiplayer maps since BF3, I am not very hopeful that BC3 will be anything but disappointing. I really enjoy a few of the maps in BF1 but a lot are kinda "meh" and a few aren't fun to play.

It will be really easy to boycott if it is anything like Battlefront 2

Don't forget the epic and long SP campaign, which is the only aspect of BC2 that I ever played. And judging from the hate BF1 is garnering here, I really think they should have put more focus on the SP campaign in that game since it is set in an era where weapon choice is very limited and that seems to be a big issue to those who enjoy MP.

The campaign in BC1 and 2 were both fantastic fun and the humor of the dialog and personalities were, to me, THE main aspect of the game that I still cherish to this day. I can't watch the helicopter scene with Flynn, Sarge, and Hags without literally chuckling every single time I play! It was also really long especially compared to the typical campaigns of most FPS games nowadays, and the story itself was really epic in scale. If they can nail that aspect of a proposed BC3 (making sure to bring back all of those beloved characters) I will be a very happy man regardless of how the MP turns out (which I will never even bother with anyway).

See? You got it! Your post, not your person. I'm glad we agree on something!

Yes, please, tell me more about how the subtle ways in which one moves erratically differently in BF1 is the downfall of the skill gap in the franchise.

You can't equip a laser sight in BF1, making the potential hipfire spread lower in BF4 for virtually all guns, especially if you chose to equip an ergo grip in tandem. In any case, congratulations on having the skill to pull down your mouse during a burst!

"Hey guys, we've cashed in on all of the good will the community had for the Battlefront franchise. What's the next IP we can parade naked around the town square before publicly humiliating it beyond redemption and flogging it to death?"

"People are still packing out 100+ servers for BC2 over the weekends and the game has a ravenous cult following on just about every social outlet. Let's collect their souls in jars made from the shattered dreams of their nostalgia and fire them into the center of the sun to burn in agony for all of eternity, and use that auditory energy to fund the marketing campaign."

"You're a frickin' Genius Dan. Make me your financial sub."

I really hope this happens! I have many, many fond memories playing BC2 online. Some of the moments that would spontaneously occur were so unique and funny. I remember the fun I used to have planting C4 on enemy vehicles and then hiding in the bushes until I heard the engine start haha. This may actually get me into an FPS again.
