new dell costs £1000

I reviewed the Dell 7577 very recently. It had 4k, 7700hq and the 1060 Max-Q.

It wasn't too bad. He FHD model while IPS, it's still just average at best compared to the 4k panel model number AUO20EB.

The 7577 exhibits zero throttling and does not really respond well to undervolting and repaste. Repasting is pain anyway. The thermals out of the box are nice. 89c max in CPU under heavy 2+ hour use and the GPU never hit above 69c.

With that said I would still consider the AW if it's new.

What sort of reviews have you covered so far?

Id take the Alienware but repaste with liquid metal for sure.
