I've got Windows set to "high performance" and to never turn off the hard drives. But my storage array still goes into low power mode if I don't use it for a few minutes. You can hear the read heads moving back over the platters and the drives spinning up. Random access tests and read tests come out great but there is always the initial lag when it starts. This is VERY jarring when gaming as it creates a massive lag-spike if a new texture loads.
Anybody know a workaround? Drives are Samsung F3s in Raid 0 on an ICH10R controller.
