How to correctly install cpu and ram?

Thread Starter
Just a quick question.

When building a computer for the first time should you put the ram and cpu/hsf on before you put the motherboard in? This is how i do it just because when i put ram in after the mobo is installed there is flexing in the board and for some reason i do not like how it feels.

Simply, is there a right way and a wrong way?

You can do it like that. Doesn't matter either way.

Flexing of the board is perfectly normal

Just make sure its not dangerously bending...

I used to put some folded paper underneath/Wood while pushing it in... either way, flexing is ok

Yeah I do it that way to...And if I need to cahnge something after it's installed I just do it with it in the case...A little flex isn't going to hurt it...

RAM + CPU + HS while on the anti static pad it came with (before installation)
Thats how I do it
I throw it into the case or mobo tray, then install from there, but i have to mod the cases and trays so that ican reach the screw holes some times, dremel ftw. But i do place it on the static shield, and i wear my anti static bracelet grounded to my watch battery
