max SAFE vcore on a newcastle?

Thread Starter
hi. i have a newcastle 2800 (1.8ghz stock) and I can push it pretty far when upping my vcore. right now it is at 1.76-1.80v @ 9*260=2340. However, I have stock cooling (I'm deciding on a new hs) and I fold, so my temps are hitting 55C.

Two questions really: what vcore do you all have your newcastles at (god forbid you didn't get a winnie or hammer)? and - what should i look at as a ceiling for my vcore?

*btw: hsf's i am considering: xp120 ($63 w/tt led fan) xp90 ($48 w/tt led fan) and the arctic cooling freezer 64 ($29) all prices from jab-tech.com

i have the tt led fan 120mm in the back and an 80mm out the side leveled with my graphics card. what would be the best for the money (and a newcastle)?

I thought that the max safe voltage for a Newcastle was about 1.8v. You sure your reading it correct. Only the BIOS will give you the correct voltages.

Edit: The XP-120 is a very good heatsink. However it is very big. The XP-90 is almost as good and is far smaller.

Wow, you've got that vcore and only 55C load? What kinda stock cooling do you have. I'm running 1.55 Vcore with stock cooling and I get 55C load. But anyways, you can put your vcore to whatever you want, as long as you try and keep it under 55ºC LOAD temp.

That doesn't work with the Lanparty. I use Everest Home Edition Beta or my probes on my fan controller. I assume you've updated the BIOS for your MOBO ouro?

Could use PC Wizard 2005. Or Everest then.
I thought that there was a way to get it to work with that board (somewhere on DFI forums) by modifying some of the options.
