I can contest that WITHOUT QUESTION Pook ^_^
With Faster Freqs pook, the buses and gates, and all the other devices inside of the chip are working at a faster rate, and produce MORE heat.
When I ran MY (fathers now
) Tbird at 1.3GHZ instead of 1GHz, it would go up to 55d at 1.81v INSTEAD of 52 (@ 1GHZ) with the SAME voltage.
It goes without question really pook. HIGHER FREQS can see you a hotter chip. The main factor contributing to heat though IS in fact volts.
But trust me - speed up Freq - and things can get hotter.
As I said though, my head is stuck in the "retro" days
,With P2, K6s,Celly's and Tbirds..., so I can thoroughly discredit anything YOU say. These new achitectures MAY be different...
But on the grounds that I explained earlier :- the fact that all the devices that the (and EVERY) architecture is composed of.. work faster when you OC, I'd say the same is true.
@ stone - I wont say that the increasing of your timings DEFINATLY didnt ATTRIBUTE to its death, but what I will say, is that its certainly NOT the norm, and the reason it happened to you, is QUITE likely, because you put THAT MUCH voltage through your RAM. As for you doubting it, because the others are running higher now - you're like a mad scientist!
REALIZE that that stick that died, simply may not have been as rezilent as the others, EITHER WAY dude... YOU"RE STRESSING YOU RAM - thats a fact.
Picture a Car Running under serious boost - the engine is strained a bit everytime the owner races it, but its pistons and such, are not strained enough so that they'd give way.
BUT - you go ahead and put a bottle of nitros on the side..
you give it a run.. and the pitons fly the Sh.i.te out of your block.
Its prolly not the best illustration, because NOS (EVEN WITHOUT THE PRIOR BOOSTS DONE) would strain your engine a bit (timings WOULDNT).. but, just to illustrate my point a bit.
Timings dont Kill your RAM man. If they arent loose enough, the stick just plain DOESNT work, and your boot up will be unstable - BSODs all over the place.
