When it comes to me running at other speeds, anything over 2.8ghz using a 9x multi I needed 1.37+ vcore.. My max oc of 408x9=3.6Ghz i needed 1.468vcore to run stable.. 8x multi lets me run near stock vcore.. 1.28vcore
Just for fun Elerin, try running 401x8=3.2Ghz @1.3375vcore.. I don't actually run at 400fsb.. I can't post at 400fsb.. I can post at 401fsb tho.. So maybe that +1fsb can work for you... If you post, then reduce the vcore slowly till you are no longer stable.. I have no doubt that 401fsb will give you high temps... So this is only to see if it is possible for you.. I know of no E4300 running 400fsb or higher on air.. There maybe one or two out there, but it is unlikely...
I find that running 1.8Ghz stock IDLE is only 2C lower than running 3.2 or 3.6Ghz.. Its when I begin to stress the cpu that the difference is seen.. My stock load temps are almost 16C lower than when I am oc'ed.. So I run the same idle temps stock or oc'ed, but way different between them when under load..
if it ran without any great temps increase, i'd be very glad.
anyway, i had another thought, reading some other forums. maybe my RAM is holding me back? people say to put it at 1:1 but i dont get it.
in my freaky asus bios, the FSB is x4, in other words, to run 400 fsb i must put 1600 in there. right now it is 1500, which makes my fsb 375 (x8 = 3.0)
but, for ram, i leave it unlinked and leave it at 800mhz. CPU-z reads 400mhz but i guess thats correct, right? now, if i link it and leave it at 1:1, with 1500mhz, ram is automatically set to 1500 too. and this will fry my little babies, wont it?
i think i'm missing something here. i really dont understand how 1:1 can get you any further. unless its because you OC the memory but oc'ing a DDR2800 to 1500mhz is madness XD
would be glad for help.. going to sleep now, tho. (10:40 pm here in Rio, i'm 16 and got to go to school by morning )
EDIT: btw, at 3.0 ghz im running at 1.3000 vcore. ran it at 1.28, and yet i didint orthos-check it for hours, i left it downloading some games and when i came back it had turned off. guess its better to leave it at 1.3 anyways. nb vcore is 1.39 or 1.2something, i dont remeber exactly. i think its 1.39 tho.
