Have you (or anyone else feel free to speak up
) heard of any success with the 1066 pin mod, on either P5WDH or Commando? I've been trying to get it to work, but nada.
I've tried it both
ways on both
boards. The more common Bsel1 to VSS. And also the other way of insulating Bsel1 and then connecting it to Bsel2. One thing I didn't try was to do the regular Bsel1 to VSS, but insulate Bsel1 first. But I read one guy who said that didn't work on a P5B deluxe also, still may try it though.
Either way I do it though, the results are the same for each board. Using defogger kit, and taking my time doing things very detailed. Even redid it again the Bsel1 to VSS way again with same results---
P5WDH: Doesn't appear to do anything, still autos the cpu at 200 bus, and the board doesn't give a dam I even modded the cpu. It knows I'm trying to trick it, and mama didn't raise no fool.
Commando: Won't POST on auto, it pukes with this mod. Appears to do the same as P5B deluxe does for people (haven't tried on my P5B deluxe yet, I have a feeling it will react as Commando does, since commando is really just a juiced up P5B deluxe). Looks like this board also knows I'm trying to trick it, but instead of handling it gracefully it takes a dump.
interested in making this mod work on either of these boards (preferably the p5wdh though). Been googling and reading up but not much info about p5wdh and this mod it seems. Read one post of a guy saying he got it to work on Commando, then other posts saying it doesn't work on Commando, like I'm seeing. I wonder if there's other more reliable ways to do this mod, make it more compatible. Will be interesting to see how this mod develops. Any information anyone has on making this mod work for these boards is greatly appreciated !
The real importance of this mod as I see it, is the fsb wall on these chips, which ya my week 44a deffinitely has one
. I'd love to smash that wall to pieces. Making an ECS board run at 266 may be important for some, but only a glimpse of what I feel this mod can offer to us OC'ers, we want 400+fsb thank you very much!!
Granted on this chip, much over 400fsb, and you're either running a lower multi, or have some nice cooling. From what I gather, if you can truly make it run in the 1066 strap though, you should
be able to hit those higher fsb's. Theoretically, it should then OC just as well as it's C2D cousins. After all, it's really the same chip, they're just running it tighter at lower fsb to purposely reduce it's performance (and OC capability too I'm sure, though they'd never officially say that). Making it run at the same bus and timings as all other C2D's should make it behave as they do, and is the key to unlocking it's hidden performance.
