Sooner or later those points will be yanked, the rules and engine is changing to limit the amount of global points from a submission to move inline with the amount of submissions made in that category. Just like hardware points.

You played it smart Dhen, there's big points to be made because of 'loopholes' like this in the hwbot engine and you took advantage of it. Whether people agree with that or not is completely irrelevant, the points are legal, you did nothing wrong and you're reaping the rewards of it. Enjoy it while you can. wink.gif

I hope they don't that would be a shame. Personally I like the system they have setup now, it generates more interest in oddball/rare setups. I even wish they would give out globals based on platform (775/AM2/etc). I would much rather see someone setting up 64-core Wprime runs than yet another guy binning 20-odd 2600k/2700k chips and 680s. If the idea is just to make sure everyone uses the same hardware then they should change it, but I'm much happier to see those guys benching AGP cards and server boards and Pentium 2s. Its very healthy for the entire scene to have many different ways to gain some serious points and the more variety the better.

points/trophies for "podium places" cannot be awarded without the minimum number of entries for each place...

ie- if its a winner takes all ... then only 1x podium.. so only 1x entry needed... but with places 1-4 earning rank/points/trophy... you need at least 1-4 competitors and entries

*This is how competition works in general.. hwbot will fix the loophole eventually. Until then - the more subs you make the harder it will be for them update on later rolleyes.gif

Haha yeah I will enjoy it while I can and I will try to freeze all the chips we have here in the lab and hoping to finish them all when the time I get
a new job, lol!! I just got a PCIe ribbon hoping to fire up a 64 cores PCMARK05 with my radeon HD3450 biggrin.gif

Haters keep coming and I love how OCN hwbot team is backing me up with the riot grouphug.gif

I realized quite awhile back to pick what hardware was going to produce the most points per monies spent and using air or water was not that productive when using the most popular hardware. With the latter HWBot revs and the different leagues things are much better for gaining points but if you want to raise your league standing in general after a certain point it is going to be in those most popular categories, that is where the points are. This forces comparative competition, find, but If this keeps up in my opinion the only league hardware/global points awarded in the future will be based on something like the top three cpus, vid cards from each producer.

To follow other paths shouldn’t the folks that make their living clocking cpus be complaining about the vid card only competitors or in reverse. Maybe limit team size to 25 members to get rid of the large team advantage. How about changing the national standings to average points per member and not total points. Base memory benches on type of ram and chipset, PCmark standings on cpu and storage device used.

If you can get your hands on it, bench it. As long as there are different ways to earn points it will never be fair.
