Are you sure the Dual Channel will be disabled even the if the Titanium is downgraded to the speed of the Gold? (that would make 2x1024 gold and 2x1024 Titanium btw)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual-channel_architecture

Not the most reliable source of information though

2 gig is enough for a c2d, you won't see the benefit of 4gigs unless you get a quadcore (right?) or you wont get the benefit unless you run a 64bit OS.

Either way, as everyone advices, dont mix ram, trust me, you'll be satisfied with 2gigs

Well, it seems like this build will finally have to wait for a month or two; since Intel's next price drop is coming in July (or so i've heard) I figured I could wait and turn that E6600 into a Q6600, what do you think?

And hopefully by then maybe i'll have found some G.Skill HZ at a sub-200$ price

From whatever online store you are buying from, try to fins this G.Skill RAM These can hit 1200 mhz, which mean you can overclock pretty good with these.

If you're going to wait until the Intel Q3 price drop (June 22nd I believe), I would change the E6600 to the Q6600 like you have said above.

Just a question like this guys, when is the DDR3 ram coming? Is it gonna be worth it for gaming computers? What about the upcoming peryn and barcelona CPUs?

Is it worth waiting to invest in those?

DDR3 RAM is coming pretty soon... the first kits are already available on the UK market (they're always a little faster than us here in the US)

Also, the Asus P5K3 motherboard does support DDR3:

However, no SLI of course, and Crossfire only at x16, x4.
