Yeah getting 42fps instead of 47fps in Oblivion outdoors is just AWFUL, especially when you had to pay $180 less to do it.

No, but the crazy high power usage and temps high enough to heat a small room does unfortunately.

I know this is kind of a back hand thing to consider here, and definitely something that's only speculation, but if the card puts off an extreme amount of heat... wont some users have to clock down their CPUs to adjust for the extra temps? I could see a point where the performance offered by overclocking the card is negated by having to keep the CPU in safe perimeters.

I wish someone would do some testing on this.

It's more of a driver issue then hardware, I hope you knew that, and that this isn't ATI's top end card of the series, they are going in reverse of what Nvidia is doing to see how things go and correct their mistakes so it doesn't make the XTX then look like crap.

You know, it's funny... nearly every review that has come out in the past two days has made very sure to repeatedly attack the R600 for its power consumption, but as far as I've seen, only one actually had the nuts to hook it up to a wattmeter.

Check my post history, I've been saying that for well over a week.

I am dissapointed as well as most everyone else, but I am sick of these whorish mainstream review sites jumping on the bandwagon... I mean, the thing isn't a blockbuster but give it up already with this incessant bash-babble. The card definitely has major flaws, and some will be worked out with drivers and some won't. I can say that it already is catching up to the GTX compared to the numbers we have seen in the last few weeks, and it definitely needs a few more driver releases as you, myself, and many others have said.

I have seen your posts and I second your statement completely, it's like putting steak on a dirty jacked up plate then a new one. Where do I come up with these weird analogies. -_-

ATI spent most of their time developing the card instead of the drivers, and its not even the highest end model and it still manages to put some decent scores against the GTX.

The drivers are still immature, give it time with every driver release there will be a fixes and performance gains.

Anyone else noticed the 54K 03 run done on a paltry 3.7GHz processor?
