Mac Users Search for Life After iLife

As Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) Latest News about Apple manufactures both its software and hardware, it tends to work well together and keep most Apple users happy. However, only hardcore fans say they have no problems with that arrangement.

That's why some people love their Macs, but still seek music programs other than iTunes or browsers other than Safari. The search can be long and hard.
Raised by Windows?

"The biggest problem for new Mac users is that they miss their Windows Windows hosting solutions with 24x7x365 support – Visit HostMySite.com software," says Alexa Karolinski, a student who organizes regular Mac user meetings in Berlin. Many people who make the switch still want to use their old tax software, she says. Others want their old online banking software or their old favorite games.

However, it's only when people start making regular use of their new Mac that they really notice what's lacking. Anyone who watches a lot of movies with their Mac will quickly find the built-in software's limits. Those who organize their photos on their computer might want more than Apple's iPhoto offers.

not everyone likes what a mac offers just like with windows.

As with anything, built-in software is never as good as dedicated software, because if it was, you would have to charge more for it. Imagine if you have to get Photoshop CS2 and Final Cut Pro with every Mac. It would raise the price by over $1000! iLife is a good bit better then what comes with Windows (MS Paint FTW!!!11!1!), but since there is very little other software available for the Mac, iLife is often all you get, lol.

EDIT: jman888: Bootcamp sucks. No one wants to restart their computer to use a program or two. Parallels is where its at

I find mac's to be too simple...many i like fiddling with lots of stuff on my pc, seeing what it does. And the lack of games is also a big deal. If you are going to buy a mac and then put windows on it, i think you have spent WAY too much money on a computer! (Windows and OSX aren't cheap)

When my computer destroys itself, I'd like it to display a nice long descriptive error code, not kindly ask me to shut down and call an Apple Genius. They don't want us fixing our own problems, so they make it hard.

Except their is a left click...
My macbook is way easier to navigate with the touchpad than it would be on windows...

1 finger + click = left click
2 finger + click = right click
1 finger + drag = move cursor
2 finger + drag = scroll is any direction

Tell me something easier than that? lol.

Oh, and what limitations are they talking about...."limitations on watching movies"....What's so hard about popping it a DVD, it plays by itself, and you can fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, and even put to sleep with your INCLUDED remote....

I dono man...sounds like a fanboy wrote that since he obviously doesn't know....

Just because somebody uses firefox instead of Safari doesn't mean he's unhappy with Mac. People do that in Windows all the time...(it's free...as in bonus...you don't HAVE to use it.). Also, if you don't want iPhoto...don't use it. You don't have to... You can use Aperture, or some free software off the internet...

Anything that works in Linux has mostly been ported to work on OS X (same with BSD) Because it is based on Unix code....

Meh. I just hate PC fanboys....

I like both...so no bias from me.

1- So you've found the secret to decoding the BSOD, have you? lol...ok glad you know the language well...

2- The reason it says to restart, is probably because that's all that it needs to do. I've never had a problem that a restart didn't fix...and never came back.
