Striker Extreme Memory Error

Thread Starter
Asus Striker Extreme mobo, After a reboot my computer would not respond, I restarted and then it would not boot. The LCD Poster said "DET DRAM", so I unplugged one of the sticks of ram. Tried to reboot same thing "DET DRAM" I swithched out the two sticks and it booted to Windows just fine, it was sluggish but at least it worked.

I tried resetting the CMOS and reinstalling the ram to see if that would help and it didnt. So I then unplugged the 24 pin power from the mobo took out Both sticks of RAM, both video cards, and my sound card reset the CMOS again, re seated everything and plugged all the power chords in. turned it on and it booted like it was supposed to.

Chaned all of my BIOS settings back to my normal operating settings and have had no problems.

My Question is: What is the original cause of this and why did I have to go through all of that B.S. to get my computer running again?
