delta high rpm fans *beware*

i bought 2 of these bad boys to put in my thermaltake armor case when i did my build recently. they put out 220 cubic ft a minute! but man, are they loud as all hell! they are also dangerous when exposed, especially with their thick, sharp blades!

this is a true act of pure idiocy, but it did happen. the front intake fan did not have a grill yet and was exposed doing its 4600 some odd rpms when i decided to feel how much air exactly it was taking in. i put my hand about 4 inches away at first, but i leaned over to look in my case at all the internals and my hand got too close...all i heard was..thwack! and the fan was now vibrating uncontrollably and making a horrible noise. so now i bleeding like a stuck hog from my palm, i turn off the computer and run to bathhroom to find that i have about a 2 cm cut worthy of about 4 good stiches!

the fan blade that cut my hand broke off and flew across the room, causing a bad imbalance in the fan, thus making all the bad noise. i opted not to go to the hospital, and continue working on my rig. yes, this was monumentally stupid of me to do, but i had no idea that this particualr fan was THAT SHARP! so if you own one of these, watch your limbs around em!

Pictures!

I guess I shouldn't touch a fan while it spins then. Esp that one.

yeah im really lucky, especially with how thick and sharp it is! its not like your regular stock case fan!
ouch.. I think I'll stick w/ the el cheapo fans that don't spin that fast

LOL, sometimes I stay up in the middle of the night messing with my PCs and a 120mm fan hits me while I'm trying to feel the heatpipes' temperature. It sure isn't a Delta, but I know what you mean with the thwack sound, it scares me every time. When I get my FM121s, I'm putting fan grills on them so I don't end up with an 8-bladed $15 fan and a bloody hand. The grills come with the fans though, so it's not like I'm doing any extra work.
