When a hardware monitoring program gives you motherboard temp readings...which chip from the board is it reading , the northbridge or the southbridge ?

More than likely it's the Northbridge.

It will be the northbridge reading. Stay below 50c for NB temps.

the southbridge usually doesnt get very hot -- wait a sec, if you're using amd you prolly dont have a southbridge.

so far i like it very much...every overclocking option ill ever need....i really havent had ANY problems with it...the ONLY thing i dont like about it is the chipset locations...if youre in to water cooling...(and everyone here is) it can be difficult to find a waterblock with 3/8 - 1/2 barbs that will work....that is my dilemma now as i still havent found a block that can work...the search continues.

alright im having a problem... i want to cool my NB chip with liquid...most people here say its not necessary because a fan can do it just as good....well one of the reasons i went to watercooling is to eliminate as many fans as possible....the mb in my sig is really restricting me from finding a good block...it must be very free flowing and also actually fit the board...anyone have any suggestions ? these are some im considering but i dont have any idea how they flow :
