Quick question, AS5 > or < naked?

Thread Starter
Would I produce low temps also, just having pure copper to the core of the processor or no? would it be high? Thanks in advance.

Add AS5. I don't think copper to the CPU is good.

Naked would not be perfectly even on both surfaces, leaving air in between. Air is actually a good insulator, which would be bad.

So I say AS5 >>> naked, but that's just my guess. I'd like to know if I'm right about this, so someone who knows for sure please confirm

Well copper to copper is great but you need alittle somthing to bridge the gaps that arent touching perfectly. When i did my lapping i used cheap paste and it even worked pretty good then as5 droped the temps a few more.

I use TIM on naked cores...If you use AS-5 be careful and not use to much or it can get on the PCB and short it out...I think anymore I would just use Ceraminique to be on the safe side...

EDIT: Are you talking about just not using TIM on a regular core? Just use some to fill in the voids...

I have heard of "Liquid compound." Heard they were better than regular thermal paste.

You are going to want to use a little thermal paste, I doubt you would get better temps without it really anyways, so not worth the risk.
