50C temp drop for $8

Thread Starter
yeah sounds crazy but its true! i was over at a friends house last night, helped him very crudely OC his intel with stock heat sink. temps were crazy high at first, mid 70sC when we started hitting the heat sink with Canned Air (air duster). the stuff is flammable but there was no fire. heres a pic after about 1min at full load and an almost empty can of "AIR"

as a side note, the can must be upside down to get the sub zero liquid to come out. remember it IS FLAMMABLE and not good to breathe in. could hurt your computer too, i would assume...

LOL

Nice for SuperPi 1MB... but I don't imagine you doing SuperPi 32MB that way, let alone 24 hours of Orthos

for long term use, its better to get a better HSF

but i know, LCO2 rocks! i used to use it when i got tons of bottles (my dad is a physics professor, has tons of crap) and no money, and i got my old A64 3000+ at 3GHz then i ran out of bottles and unplugged it before anything bad happened

Still interesting. Makes use of the whole gas laws in chemistry. The expanding gas is really cold...
well not really....the expanding gas absorbs heat as it goes from liquid to gas (phase change) which takes heat away at an astonishing rate (when liquid turns to gas, needs to absorb a LOT of energy)

Lol, that stuff condensates doesn't it?

That is what i would be worried about.
I wouldn't suggest doing that for too awfully long due to a little thing called thermal shock =/
