Don't worry about it. I get the same crap. Of course I only yesterday recieved my Nvidia card to replace my X1950XT, but that doesn't mean anything. Under my name is the Nvidia logo, so I'm a fanboy automatically.

I wouldn't call it a flop nor would I make a blanket statement saying the performance is subpar. The limiting factor on the new Ati cards is heat. If you watercool that, the overclocking potential is very large. On water, I think it would keep pace with any card out there at any price.

Price is what determines this card's worth. A 7900GS at 500$ would be a flop. At 400$+ USD, considering other similarly priced (and even cheaper priced) alternatives, I'd say this card is a flop.

Now if it was at the 300$ mark, I'd buy it in a heart beat.

Yes, I agree the overclocking potential is very good on the 2900XT. But water cooling alone may not even be enough to yield very good overclocks. Remember that all those 1ghz core clocks were done on LN2. Sure water cooling is obviously better than the stock cooling but is it really worth it?

I foresee this thread reaching 15 pages very fast %20 of it filled with novel length posts. As soon as NamelessMC posts something like "I've known since 1864 that the 2900XT would melt babies" I'm un-subscribing. Hopefully the 3dmarks get posted before that.

Since you're writing it off as a complete flop, are you confident that a watercooled 2900xt wouldn't perform on par with a watercooled 8800gtx? It's hard to say until these enter the mainstream and we see it for ourselves, but if it can, it's an enthusiast's bargain I still think some of you are very premature in labeling this card as a flop. It was JUST released and there is a ton of room for improvement with driver updates. I wouldn't count it out yet
