P4B memory problem, need help

Hey!

I have a weird problem with a Asus P4B. I know it's old and that even when it was new it was crap but to make a long story short, I need that PC to make a Proxy Server. So, here's what i've done so far. The Computer was working great with a 1,5GHZ P4 and 512Mb of SDRAM. So I installed Windows Server 2003. But I knew that 512Mb is not a lot so I ordered a 1GB DIMM (BTW all the memory is ECC, and before you ask yes the Board support up to 3GB of ECC memory)

When I installed my 1GB stick the pc stops posting and/or beeping... I tried it alone in the 3 memory slots. I activated the ECC option in the Bios I have flashed the Bios to the last official version (1012). Nothing seems to work.

Do you guys have some idea... My guess is that the 1GB DIMM is not compatible with the board, here's the model of the DIMM:

Kingston SDRAM 133MHZ 168Pins 1024MB ECC 3.3V (KVR133X72RC3/1024A)

thanks for your help!

You might have a memory incompatability.

For instance the lappy I am on right now had a 512mb stick that just wounld not work. I rmaed it it still doesn't work. I got a differnet brand one PRESTO it works.

The same happened to my cousin only certain sticks worked together.

Hope this helps
