Installing Intels Flagship QX6800 Quad - Page 5

cog, what are your load temps with 4 prime 95s with small FFT tests? I would really hate you to fry your processor because 48C on stock, and then you overclocked to that, your temps are probably in the low 50s on idle. You processor has to be atleast 70C on load with all 4 cores in use.

As I stated I idle at 35C with my QX6700 and my load temps are 67C. If you are idling at low 50s, your processor might even be seeing 80s.

You are going to have to run 8k FFT tests across all 4 cores to see your real load temp.

The Big Typhoon VX cools so much better then the zalman too, and I really think your going to fry you processor with that heatsink at that speed.

Please check your temps and make sure.

Wow first of all, you are so rich and I am jealous, second is that Intel was requiring all pc sellers to only use that processor in water cooled rigs, so maybe you should spend some of that cash and get a sexy water cooled setup.

Your clock went up and your idle temps came down? lol

What'd you do? Nice CPU, my friend just got a QX6800 in for testing, he wants to see if it's possible to hit 3.4 on water but he's a bit hesitant.

I wouldn't use speedfan with a kentsfield, CoreTemp is more accurate.

Speedfan tells me my temps are 15C on idle and 30C on load (latest version). While CoreTemp tells me 35C and 67C.

I'm sorry but theres absolutely no way you are idling at 32C, unless it is snowing outside and your window is open. Not trying to be rude. Its just not possible with a kentsfield on air, atleast in my experience.

Speedfan @ 32 is about 42 idle's in iTat, so that's still pretty low.

speedfan, at least for me, is 15c too low - coretemp is much more accurate.

Hey none taken I'll take your advice and not trust speedfan and try coretemp.

Idle 49 on air @ almost 3.5ghz This quad needs watercooling
