E6600 temps

Thread Starter
I just got my new comp up and running, my Core 0/1 temps while running superPI fluctuate between 50 - 57c under load (using coretemp), but the TJunction is 85c??

Is that normal? Or did I not install the stupid heat sink and fan properly?

Use TAT just to be certain.

85C is dangerous for any chip

TJunction also does not fluctuate with load, it just sticks at 85c
post #4 of 9
mine is the same way on Core Temp Beta 0.94. at idle, im at 20-21C on each core, and my tjunction is stuck at 85C. what is the tjunction anyways. and should i be worried about this? oh, and i tried to double check with TAT, but i dont see a "tjunction" anywhere

TJunction is something else, I forget exactly.

Try to keep your temps under 55c. Just wondering, download TAT and click stress test, tell me what temp it gets to.

I wouldn't worry about the Tjunc @ 85C, it's listed as intels 'max' tjunc temp and I'm pretty sure core temp is just reporting that (its max allowed temp) rather than actual temp. As best I can remember almost all screens of core temp I've seen on a core 2 always read the tjunc @ 85C (mine included).

for the normal temps, if the chip speed is stock then >50C seems high, tho with stock hs maybe not so much. just don't jump over 60 if you can help it.

I ran orthos and the temperature spiked to 70c, so I remounted the stupid stock HSF (god is that thing a pain!), and now it runs at like 55c under load from orthos, and is much lower idle.
