The Start Bar is your example of an advanced/sophisticated OS?
Dude, man farout...these PC cats are hip man...They must be tripping accepting the fact they have to install their new OS three times in less than a month! Groovey, man.

Isn't using Microsoft products the ultimate sign of sacrifice, and sacrifice, and sacrifice? Maybe in 5 years, things will be better.

Everything else is perfect! Boots and shuts down faster than XP and runs a lot smoother and faster.
That's how I've found it as well. I love Vista.

I had to reinstall a number of times (MORE THAN THREE ) but had no intall key problems. Was getting BSOD's like it was going out of style. Finally discovered that my overclock was causing the BSOD's. I backed off the mhz about 55 mhz and turned up the voltage to my RAM, and TADA, I've been running great.

Someone who was running a more standard configuration than I am would have had no problems.

I work in Vista all the time now. People that knock the RAM usage & Readyboost etc should use Vista and experience the new RAM handling. Very smooth user experience. Should see my photoshop launch time in Vista compared to XP.

But hey, you don't like it, don't get it. XP is still all over the place.

I have x64 vista Business installed and it has been pretty good to me.

However, lately, after a number of updates and software/driver installs, the system has become much less stable. My CS:S install is WAYYYY messed up, it gives me "Overlay(0)" crashes all the time, and sometimes Battlefield just takes a dump on me.

My FPS is definitely lower than what it was on XP, which is a major bummer.

They just need to relieve a lot of the overhead, somehow. Dont ask me though....

..continued

"*force quits*"

"So, why didn't that program close when you chose 'Close'?"

"Oh, OSX thinks I'm an idiot and may not have wanted to Close the program. Who needs resources anyways?"

"Why is the icon still there on the dock, even after force quitting?"

"Oh, that's because we don't believe in one menu for all our shortcuts."

"Why don't you put them on your desktop, then?"

":O You can't be serious, that's for mounting, dragging and installing! Besides, once I restarted, OSX would just rearrange them ignoring my previous placement..."

"You know, I just double click an executable and follow the directions.."

"SINNER! HOW DARE YOU BLASPHEME AGAINST THE HOLY APPLE!!"

EDIT:

BTW, all this is being posted on a Mac, OSX 10.4.9 - You know, the newest full-on update since a few months ago? I just got that new security update... beings funny that OSX is soooo secure.

I finally finished fixing the driver issues with vista on my toshiba laptop, but I still have to run XP on my desktop- stupid nvidia driver issues.
Other than that, I am satisfied with vista, it's got a lot of good features.
BETTER THAN MAC!

Ok, im tired of all the Vista bashing from people who either
1. havent even used it
2. have tried it at a store on a computer that shouldnt even be running it
3. installed it on a P3 and complain that its slow
4. install it with only 512mb of memory and complain that its slow
5. loose some FPS in games and complain even though almost every thing relating to drivers in vista has been re-coded and coders need to get used to the new system before perfect drivers will come out
6. wait for the first service pack thinking that it will be more secure and better
7. complain about RAM usage when they dont know how the new RAM managment works

So either get vista and use it, or **** and use crappy XP.. i know i loose a few FPS in games "UH OH, THE ANTICHRIST IS COMING TO KILL ME" its not life or death if you loose a few frames or a few points in 3Dmark..

end rant/
