Oooh! The good, the bad, the ugly! Decisions, decisions. Make up your mind. I am so confused. Vista or XP? ***...Vista looks wicked I must admit but will the 32bit drivers work with the 64bit version of Vista. Grrrrrrr!!
Well I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 and I like it a lot more then XP, the only real issues I'm having is with DOW freezing, but apparently its an nvidia driver thing and I had the same problem with XP anyways. It was easy to find all my drivers for my hardware, even my TV tuner card.

As for people buying it and not being able to return it, thats a lie, MS offers a 30day money back guarantee on all their software.

Macs have a few viruses out there, however its not because the OS is more secure then windows, its basically due to the fact that most of the hackers out there don't think its worth their time to attack people with computers who only comprise about 3% of the market.

A survey on XP/Vista users even here - will show the very same thing...
I am interested to see where you are getting your information.

Seems a bit like a Colbert-ism: "This is based on absolutely no facts... but it's probably true!"

As soon as Apples can play all major game releases and drop their prices by about 1/2, I'll make the switch.

Seriously.

My roommate says, "Apple said that they are currently unbeatable in price/performance compared to PC's(oh btw I want to have hot man-sex with steve jobs)"

I say, "And you really believe that?"

Just like the all the other releases... try running XP on a machine that originally shipped with 98. Of course it will be slower. Try running Vista on a machine that originally shipped with XP on its release. It will be WAY slower. This happens for every new OS release, on both the Mac and PC side. OSX brought my G3 macbook to its knees, it originally shipped with OS9.

I can't beleive everyone is so surprised that vista runs slower on todays machines... what will it take, maybe 10-20 more OS releases before everyone figures out how things work?

Lost Planet tests

Windows XP: 50-60FPS , DX9, Max Graphics, 1920x1200 res, 4x aa, 16x af, vsync ON

Windows Vista: 5-16 FPS, DX10, Max Graphics (with Medium Shadows, same as DX9 version), 1920x1200 res, 4x aa, 16x af, vsync OFF

So, either Vista, Lost Planet, DX10, Vista Nvidia drivers, or all of the above need serious work.

That alone should be enough reason to not upgrade to vista, even if you have a DX10 card.

Both these tests were taken with the latest drivers, and I also tried the latest BETA driver for vista, which actually scored worse.
I guess the other 39,999,999 don't care about benches
