680i

Thread Starter
Guys I have been searching this site and the net for info on the 680i boards for weeks trying to decide which board to buy. I have also thought alot about what I want the board to do so here are my priorities.

1. Must be very stable
2. Must be easy to water cool
3. Must be able to overclock an E6600 to 3.0 to 3.6 GHz
4. Must be able to run SLI at full x16 on both cards
5. Must be stable and compatiable with XFX brand 8800GTS Vid cards
6. Must be stable and compatiable with X-Fi extreme music sound card
7. Price of the Motherboard does not matter.
8. Must be compatiable and stable with Gskill PC2(8000) memory

I know most everyone on here recomends the P5N32-E and if that will do the job well I will go with it But I want this build to be as perfect as possiable. I want to build it and forget it.

Any and all suggestions and comments welcome.

I'm using a Scythe Infinity with a TT Thunderblade strapped to it.
Load temps do not get above 55 so I'm happy & yes I'm using the NB cooler that came with the board

I have both the Evga 680i and the Asus P5N32-E, and I can say that the Asus is better. Just make sure you get chipset cooling.

I guess I will go with the P5N32 I was already leaning that way from the things I have read on this site and the internet. I just hope I don't have any issues with my X-Fi card 1 I love the card and 2 I can't stand sound glitches of any kind. Sound glitches are my pet peev. I was considering the new Gigabyte board but it is $150 dollars higher and although the reviews say it is supper stable (something I realy want in a board) It is over priced for what it can do and has use-less (at least to me) features on it. Who uses four RJ45 connections any way.

Well any way thanks four your help and advice.

I've also had the EVGA and the Asus 680i boards (started with the EVGA). I also recommend the asus for a variety of reasons, foremost being better overclocking.

Which Gigabyte board is $150 more expensive than the Asus P5N32-E (thats more than the Asus Striker?)

It's their 680i board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128037

I just ordered this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131073
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150172

I am planning to add a stacker 830, E6600, Gskill PC8500 mem, and a PC P&C silencer 750 watt PSU to it later for now I will just use this to upgrade my current build. When I finish getting all of this I plan to turn my current build into a server.
