well im just increased my fsb to 225 however when i check in cpu-z it says my multiplier is at 8x..i left it at auto which is probably why it dropped. but my question was is this some sort of safety precautionary thing or what?

and also what difference is there between 512kb cache and 1mb in terms of performance. Is it something i would notice on a day to day basis?

1. THe RAM set to 166 showing as 333, same thing... DDR or Dubble Data Rate due to the data traveling up and down or in both directions at the same time dubble the base speed.
2. Dividers.... what you did setting to DDR333 is utilizing a divider. The RAM not only starts at a slower rate but increases approxamately that % to every 1 MHz you increase the CPU bus speed... or about 83% @ a base speed of 166 or DDR333.
2. The extra cache, if your refering to the L2 on the CPU... under a full load the cache improves the data transfer and can equate to about 200MHz more in rated speed.

well i just bought new ram corsair platinum series pc3200 2x512mb which should be a lot better than my 1gb value ram..my cpu is at 2300mhz atm although idle temperatures have gone up a bit although the fact that ive been running orthos all day might be the reason for that..

well ive got my cpu at 2.35mhz currently running prime95 load temps are between 39-41C..although when it comes to increasing the voltages the lowest my bios allows for my voltage is 1.55v and stock is 1.4 (i think) so would be ok for me to increase my voltage by .15?
