well this is my like my first time over clocking..my bro oc'd my pc @

3.2 then i messed with it and now im back at stock 2.8My multiplier is

unlocked..i know that. every time i up the NB-> Freq my fsb drops to

800.. but my clock speed goes up..how do i manage keeping my fsb at

1000 with clock speed increasing? i only have 2 sticks of ram right now

i pulled the other 2 out.

these are my mobo options (besides the voltage controls):

200 - 425 = Cpu Freq. (+1 increments)

5x - 25x = Multplier

200 - 400 = NB to SB Freq (+1 increments)

1x - 5x = Cpu <--> NB HT Speed

1x - 5x = NB --> SB HT Speed

1x - 5x = SB --> NB HT Speed

When embarking on something new (such as overclocking), it's always helpful to know as much as possible before you jump right in. With that in mind, here is some recommended reading. It's a big read, but I guarantee you you'll be much richer for reading it.

Now, for your specific situation, see the quoted section in bold? I think you have that set on Auto. The BIOS is probably programmed to keep the "FSB" at or under 1000MHz. (The way it works is that the default reference clock is 200MHz; there are FSB multipliers at work here. 200MHz x default (5x) = 1000MHz FSB. Now, when you increase your reference clock above 200, the multiplier then has to compensate in order to keep the FSB frequency below 1000MHz. It drops to the next lowest multiplier, 4x.)

In truth, there's no performance impact having the FSB below 800MHz, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Read the material I linked you to. I'm willing to bet you'll be much better prepared to tackle overclocking your AMD system, and you'll be much more confident to make tweaks.

In other words, you'll have more fun!

Good luck!
