overclocking my 6420

Thread Starter
Hi everyone I just overclock my cpu to 2.9ghz my previous try was 3.2 at 1.41 vcore and it kept on freezing but now my vcore is set at 1.39 running at 2.9ghz.
I have the asus temp monitor:
cpu: 34
mb: 35
vcore keeps jumping from 1.36 - 1.41 is that good?
I read that lower the core the less hot my cpu and mobo gets.
any suggestions

your temps are really nice...you are correct on lower core = less heat, and also get TAT, better than the asus temp, what your experiencing is called the vdroop with the voltage...it is normal...just make sure it doesn't go farther than it already is going

Try using "Coretemp" to measure the temps, they normally give the same results as TAT with maybe 1 or 2c difference. Also your vcore seems a little high for 2.9Ghz. I can run 2.9Ghz with 1.2v cpu vcore, but you might have a G stepping which requires more voltage.
