My pentium D 3.4Ghz is getting to the limits in temp that is recommended by intel
The max is about 70c and thats when the warning appears

bios has a 5C higher temp then the software monitor

Right now i have the side off the pc so it wont go above 70C

The temp in my computer is 40C

When it boots up cold its about 55C

I heard pentium D's run pretty hot

Well i wanted someones help on what kind of fan to buy

I dont really want to water cool and i kinda wanted to buy something under 100 bucks

thanx to anyone that helps

They are stock stock fans that came with the case
I think they are 80mm

Maybe i should get a couple 120mm fans

Idk how much a couple 120mm fans will bring down the temp though?

Actually, the presler should be cooler? It was the smithfield's that were real hot. 65 vs 90 nm

Can alot of heatpipes and fins make up for the airflow rating?

Im looking at the Thermaltake TMGi
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...376&CatId=1588
The one i have now has a cfm rating of 65 but it sounds pretty loud

The one im looking at has alot of fins and 4 heatpipes but has a cfm rating of 35

Is that a better one then what i have?

My PD930/925 is a presler, 65nm and @ 3ghz stock. I just recently re-seated the Stock HSF after i lapped it and cleaned all the intel crap off. the temps dropped about 5 degrees on both ends. (39 idle opposed to 44, and 48 load as opposed to 55)
