Why are gpu clocked so much lower then cpu? Whats the big architectural difference that makes gpu so much better with gfx data? And anything related would be nice to know.

I dunno.. A GPU is 100% dedicated to handle graphics while the CPU handles... everything... As far as I know the GPU is a helping hand when it comes to graphics.

Each shader is it's own 'cpu' so they basically have tons of different processes going on. So they can do more things at once with a whole bunch of lower megahertz, that's my understanding of it.

its all about what kind of math happens in the pipelines while CPU's are vary good at doing multitasking GPU's are going to be better at graphic's obviously. the reasons is the specified you make something the better it is at doing its job. it don't have a bunch of extra stuff bogging it down.

actully it has to do with the sheer complexity of a GPU vs a CPU.

Look at it this way a modern GPU has 500+ transistors a modern CPU has about 200 transistors, so first off transistor count, then take into account the GPU internally makes an x86 microchip look simple.

Today on 80nm tech sure the TNT2 and maybe Geforce256 could do 3 ghz but why do that with old tech?

GPUs are dedicated to handling graphical processes. They have internal instruction sets like 3.0sm, and HDR aa such and such. basically it has a bunch of processors running in unison, although they are lowly clocked.

Ok so the clocks are lower because there just a bunch of small processors instead of 1 big one. Got it!
