new comp - Page 5

I would drop the 2900 XT, get a 640 meg 8800 gts and change the brisbane/msi to a 6320 and a Tforce 965.

........ thats just me

Dang, that CPU will bottleneck your GPU.

My son has a X2 3600+ brisbane and its a great cpu. But for now there is no reason not to get a conroe due to the increased power.

the XT2900 is a great GPU, but so is the 8800 GTS and about $100 cheaper

not as bad at three ghz but most cpu will bottle a given gpu
http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...-question.html
and a intel build with a 965 will run well over a grand

not if you drop the 2900xt to a 8800 gts, they'd be the same

mb + cpu = $200

6320 + Biostar Tforce 965 = $270

current total = -70

2900 XT = $450
8800 GTS 640 = $350 before MIR ($320 after)
- 70
+30.

OR take the +30 and get a E6400
you save $30, get a great CPU & GPU

i'd just wait for the new AMD and INTEL chips then go whichever set is better instead of hoping the AMD will beat the INTEL

I've bought AMD processors for the past 9 - 10 years, this upgrade intel was better so thats what i got.

going nvidia (I see a HUGE ATI logo in your avatar) will save you $100 and not lose much performance (considering bottlenecking 0 difference, actually a improvement getting a cpu that can remotely cope) but your money, your choices

Enjoy what you end up with bro!
