8600gt or 7950gt?

Thread Starter
I can get a 7950gt 256 meg card for $150 after $40 rebate or I can get a 8600gt for $120-$150. I would like DX10 capable card, but mainly I want a card that will play BF2142 at 1920x1600 on my computer w/ all setting maxed out. My old 7900gt did this perfectly. I've read the 8600gt compares to the 7900gs and when overclocked the 7900gt. But these reviews where based on lower resolutions. I noticed at higher resolutions the card started to not perform as well (but no reviews at my resolution). Does anyone have a PC comparable to mine w/ an 8600gt and play games like BF2, BF2142, Fear, etc.... at 1920x1600 w/ all setting maxed out? If all else fails I might buy an 8600gt from best buy to test, then return it after I decide if its good enough.

Can you get a 8800GTS instead? This performs about the same as a 7950GT.
Once again...

Fry's online now has the 7900GS BFG OC version for $100 after rebate. You could consider that as well. Just overclock the hell out of it.

Are the 4 extra pipelines worth the $50, because you can definitely get similar frequencies with the 7900GS.
