Exactly, Intel made the mistake, and now look, the C2D is a great product. Just because they screwed up their current generation of products doesn't mean all to come are going to be the same.

Well that is what they are, just one mistake. Any mistake in that industry is going to cost millions of dollars. Thats the way the industry works, but a victory also earns them millions. So it's no different to any other mistake.

I am not saying that it shouldn't be held against them, but when everyone starts to complain just because it didn't meet 'hype' then thats when it gets annoying.

The 2900XT is perfectly fine, it just isn't as good as the nvidia counter part. So why not go congratulate Nvidia for a job weldone instead of saying AMD suck.

It could be a case of Nvidia out skilled them this time, rather than AMD made a mistake.

But hey, no one would want that would they, we all love to flame....right?

When I think of outskilled, I see it as a battle that leaves on a victor. lets take a duel for example

AMD and Nvidia decide: "lets have a duel"

Both hype up themselves, saying "i am such a good shot, blah blah blha".

Then lets say, the day of the duel, AMD doesnt show up?

What then? Hours and hours go by. The next day AMD shows up and Nvidia still shoots them in the gut.

Pwned.

AMD didnt face Nvidia, they hyped their product up for 7 lousy months, and then performed about on par with a product that had been out for those 6 months. What then? If thats not cause for concern, I dont know what is.

And since ATI and AMD are one and the same, what about Barcelona?

I just hope AMD makes this a learning experience and moves forward. Actually, I have utmost confidence they will. But its frustrating now, especially in light of "HEY WE HAVE A BRAND NEW PRODUCT THATS GONNA BE 55nm." Well whooptie *()*&^^&, get your current line in shape before bustin' that little nugget of joy out.

50 years later. I was going to get r600 but right before they said r700 is coming.. It's rXX100 and next year RXX200 is coming so I'll just wait for that..

Stop waiting. Buy the best currently out when you need it. /end.

r600 wasn't delayed per say. It was released with the first DX10 Demo so ok.

Yeah, just look how long it took them from 90nm to 65nm and the improvement from 90nm to 65nm was non-existent.

I'm afraid ATI will not be as good as they were back in the 9xxx days, it went down hill from there. A one hit wonder if you will.

Sounds like a faux. Regardless of it's liability, ATI/AMD has been having major issues with their releases.

Do you know ANYTHING about Brisbane? Obviously not. Nasgul not knowing what he's talking about again FTL. I'd say that 3.2GHz or so on air is a whole lot better than non-existent (meaning 90nm going to 3.0 AT BEST ONLY on the amazing steppings and 2.8Ghz on the typical ones).

Weren't you the one who was constantly trumpeting about how 'these AMD guys know nothing about Intel' compared to you because you were Intel the whole time? Likewise, buddy, likewise.

As for your ATI statement, the x1900xtx ruled over the 7900gtx.

It was more than just one mistake for AMD.

Buying ATI = mistake
R600 = mistake
Talking about fusion/torrenza too soon = mistake
Delaying Barcelona = mistake
Very nice!

8800GTS - $270
2900XT - $420
Crysis - $50
Seeing people say "Wait for R600, it's coming out in the next few weeks" in November and the looks on people's faces that still had X800XT cards and 6800GT cards all the way up until May = Priceless.
