SLI 8800GTS 320mb or 8800GTX OC

Thread Starter
I'm up in arms about either staying with my EVGA 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked and buying another to SLI or selling it and buying a EVGA 8800GTX OC. I am actually waiting on the first GTS to show up Monday but may sell and order a GTX instead. I had terrific scores with SLIed GTS and a E6600@3.84 scoring in the 15,000s and don't think a single GTX will get me that high.

Any help on this greatly appreciated

I think if you were to sell them it would be a huge waste of money....

just stick with the two 8800GTS

Two 8800's...even gts's - would be more powerful than a single gtx.

I know for sure that SLI 8800GTS 640MB can beat a single GTX. I have no idea on the 320MB version.

The performance difference between the 640 and 320 versions are extremely minimal until you start throwing large resolutions in the mix.

320MB is a rediculous amount of memory anyway, you'll never use it all.

It seems you're using dual 19" LCDs. On one hand, the GTS will be more than enough power for that setup. On the other hand, when SLi mode is enabled, you won't have the use of both monitors. So it's up to you to decide what's more important.

However, if you are planning on upgrading your setup to a 24" or greater LCD then getting a GTX now is well worth the investment for the near future. Worse comes to worse, later on you can SLi two GTX's when they really start dropping in price.

Yea a SLIed 320mb will beat a single GTX, My other rig has them and beats out all single GTXs on Top 30 Computers on here, currently ranked 8th. I guess all in all I will go with the GTX and just add another soon
