I need a power supply

Thread Starter
I'm currently building a computer but I can't decide on which power supply I should get. The rig will consist of the following: Gigabyte DS3 rev2.2, E6300, 2GB G.Skill DDR2 800, midrange video card, x2 250GB HDD, DVD Burner, W/C'ing, and probably 2 or 3 lights. I want a solid and reliable power supply that is under $90 at most (under $80 preferably) and since the mobo doesn't support dual gpu I won't need much power either but I will definitely try to do over 3.0ghz with the cpu, so what power supply suits my needs the best?

SeaSonic S12-430 ATX12V 430W Power Supply
Fishie have ran a single 8800GTS on this.

So, anything lower than a GTS, this PSU can handle it IMO.

Is 430 Watts enough to power everything up nicely?

Watts isn't everything in a PSU. It also depends on how much voltages can go through a rail. I do not know much about PSUs.

Hope Chozart comes by this thread.

A little bit off topic, but if all you're looking for is 3 ghz out of your cpu, have you considered scrapping the w/c and using that money for a better video card? You'll hit 3 ghz with a decent air cooler, so I feel that w/c is just gonna be a lot of unneeded expenditure and maintenance.

Well I'm always selling so if any one is interested, I have an Apogee water block, DD12v, D5 pump, a two slot xoxide reservoir and a x2 120mm fan radiator. Although I prefer not to sell it because I live in a 6th floor and the electricity here is very poor so the AC sometimes doesn't work and the temp in my room gets VERY HOT in the summer.

How does a OCZ modstream sound to you guys?

This is what I'm using. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...919&CatId=1079

I read a few reviews of it before I bought it, and no one had anything bad to say, other than no active PFC. Artificial PSU benchmark setups that let you choose how much power to pull shows that this PSU outputs clean power up until 585w. Mine has worked flawlessly for 4 months, and shows the same numbers on my multi-meter as the day I bought it.
