Maybe. But remember, nVidia actually cares enough to pwn. So they might just release all these badass cards anyway.

They won't. For the same reason Intel won't grind AMD to a pulp (Penryn would already be out if they wanted to).

If AMD goes down, nVidia will get in trouble with federal regulators.

Again, they're companies. They don't care who 'pwns'. They only care about profits. The own 'pwn' thing is just marketing. Right now, nVidia gets really good margins on the 8800's (they barely have dropped in price since introduction).

Also, I find the 2900's price point very interesting... esp. with ongoing rumors the 640MB version might/is pulled. Do you guys really believe nothing is happening 'behind the scenes'?

If it is true that the 8800GTS 640MB is no longer, then I really think there is something going on... since, if that's the case, nVidia rules the sub-$300 price range, ATI is alone in the $350-$450 range, and above that it's nVidia again. They know darn well they need each other.

For nVidia it's perfect that ATI is in the situation it is in right now.

alright... the 8800 ultra? I mean they are starting to come up with stuff better than the 8800 gtx, and the price is still around the same, and im talking about both ati and nvidia, although ati has nothing to compete with nvidia with ryt now
post #58 of 74
the 8800 Ultra is still an.... 8800. So you can't say the the 8800 isn't the best anymore

And the 1024MB 2900XT is delayed since it simply could not match the 8800GTX (problems with the GDDR4 RAM).

Pfft, weak. I got the drop on the GeForce 10000023516213XTXXSLiX2!
It's coming out in 50 years and it's going to have cybernetic connections to your eyes and an ability to cure acid reflux!
