OC'ing air cooled E6600

Thread Starter
im trying to OC my E6600, stepping 47G

CPUZ

at idle it runs anywhere from 30-32C, depending on the room temp lol

but under 100% load is where im having the problems, its hitting 52C.....at a FSB of 395, just 10 lower i was only getting 45C under 100% load

also, is it normal for the temps to jump up and down really quickly? when i start prime95 it jumps up within 1-2C of its steady temp in about a second, and when i exit prime95, it goes back down from 52 to 33 in about 2 seconds

also, im using a tuniq tower

yeah, those temperature jumps are fast.

You're doing VERY good with temps! Anything below 60C is nice. Given that you're at 3.55GHz, I am pretty impressed with 52C

How much extra vcore did you add to go from 385 to 395?

Finally, please disable speedstep in BIOS... It hurts to see a multi of x6 in your CPU-Z

I have speedstep disabled and it still shows up as 6x.

I have a Core2 E6700

How do I fix this? Or is it supposed to run like this?

Are you sure you have everything you need disabled actually disabled?
ie: Execute Disable Bit, Virtualization Technology, Enhanced Intel Speedstep, Enhanced C1 (C1E) and HPET

How high a clock you at?
I would say try upping your CPU mult, now. If you hit 3.0 GHz + wit hthe same temps, you won't be so upset, will you?
