Local Area Network Icon

Thread Starter
First off, I'm not sure whether I should be posting this problem here or on the Operating Systems -> Windows forum. But I'll post it here since it is a "networking" problem.

You guys all know what the Local Area Network icon is right? It's the only thing that keeps us router users (or me at least) informed about our internet connection (without going into cmd or our router). Well, I was updating the drivers for the motherboard, and after I updated, my Local Area Network icon disappeared from the Network Connections folder. I have a 1394 Connection icon but that is not my internet connection.

I tried to see if my Network Connection service has stopped but it hasn't and I am able to go on the internet and do everything normally (including: surfing the web, AIM, playing games, going to www.overclock.net). However, Not having my Local Area Connections icon under the Network Connections folder is bothersome.

Please help me out here, I can't view all the information on my internet anymore.. -_-;; Thanks guys. Help me get my icon back!

Have you done this?

Start > Network Connections > Right Click "Local Area Connection" > Properties > Check "Show icon in notification area when connection"

Lolz - there is not L A C icon

He is missing the icon in the control panel rather than the status bar if I'm reading this correctly

Are you trying to say you want the Local Area Connection symbol near your clock with the small icons?

Can you find Local Area Connection under Network Connections in Control Panel?
If you can find it, right click on Local Area Connection and go into Properties. From here, check Show icon in notification area when connected.

EDIT:

I can't find the icon in the control panel. I don't necessarily need the icon in my status bar.
