Use ORTHOS to check for stability, use blend test.

Up FSB until unstable. Drop CPU multi, find max RAM speed.

Make it work.

In your bios look for the HTT bus setting, this is commonly referred to as the FSB. It will be set at 200. Slowly raise it by 5 Mhz. increments. Also go into your memory section and set your ram to run at a slower speed. As you raise your HTT your cpu and memory speed will increase. After you find a stable cpu speed go back and set your HTT at 200 again, drop your cpu multiplier down to like 7 and slowly raise again to find your max ram speed. Only raise voltage after you've found the max stable speeds at stock voltage. Test for stability with OCCT or Prime 95. Make sure you have CPU-Z also so you can evaluate your settings from windows.

You could probably get your cpu to 2.6 Ghz. without too much trouble. Can't tell about your ram without more info. How bout going into user cp and filling out your specs. That way we can see it below your sig. every time you post.

sorry, maybe i should clafiry, by search function i meant the search box on the forum, also to jorsan, fill in your system specs in the user cp that way we know exaclty what youre running.

Having a S939 gigabyte board tells us some, but not much.

Use the search and find the guide to overclocking, its very well written and laid out. I myself overclocked a S939 gigabyte ga-k8n-sli or something like that. They seem to be hit or miss, either they reboot several times before finally booting to windows and run flawlessly(assuming the OC is stable) or they boot up with no problem. Its a little glitchy like that. good luck!
