Northbridge cooling...

Thread Starter
I've heard that the 680i NB's can get pretty hot, so I'm wondering what would be a good cooler for mine?

I'm going to have SLI, so the cooler can't be huge

Im working from home today, so I get to spend all day pulling my PC apart ;-)

This is my 2nd Stiker extreme/P5N32-E SLI board after I killed the first one.
I suspected it was related to removing the std factory heatpipes and using the thermaltake Spirits but leaving the mosfets uncovered above the CPU.

So this time around I just tied on a tiny fan at the top part of the cooling fins and because this cools it drags heat away from the NB as well.

I've also seen people do the same thing with a 40mm fan blowing directly down on the NB heatsink itself..

Quick, easy, and cheap.

They use a few nylon screws lodged between the NB fins to "secure" it.

(metal screws other than Cu = corrosion.)

You should be able to fit a 60x15mm or 70x15mm fan there instead. Here's a list of some fans sizes: http://svc.com/case-fans.html
