7300GT Problem? Or Motherboard?

Thread Starter
Ok, I think this is an issue with my Graphics card. Let me know what ya'll think. Maybe its my mobo? It was working fine yesterday now its not working properly.

I boot up my computer, and the boot screen picture (Asus AI logo) will flash up on the briefly, but not as long as its supposed to. It continues to boot, flashes the Mandriva Linux bootloader screen, but again not as long as its supposed to then goes back to black for the rest of the boot.

Now the other thing that has me somewhat confused is this. One of my PCI slots on my motherboard doesn't work, and one of the front usb ports doesnt work either. They both worked fine a few weeks ago, but now they don't.

What would you guys recommend I do? Warranty the mobo, graphics card, or both? This was from newegg so I shouldn't have issues right? I've never had to go through the process of RMAing or Warrantying anything until now.

I'm going to cross post this (nvidia and AMD motherboard sections), so I can get an effective blend of answers.

Do AMD boards have a southbridge? That may be going bad or not getting enough volts. Test it at stock settings to make sure it's not your overclock settings.

It sounds like either your boards chipset is overheating (In which case reseat with AS5) or your GPU is bust. I'd test the GPU in another rig, and RMA the board if the GPU works fine.

Well, I RMA'ed my motherboard, and its still doing the exact same thing.

I'm thinking this is more of the GPU than a mobo issue. Anyone got a spare PCI-E gpu I can borrow to test to see if its my gpu for sure?

Wow, I'm thoroughly disappointed with my RMA. The CMOS battery eject tab was broken off. I cant get the battery out. RMA number 2. :sigh:
