Boot failure after Disabled RAID 0 Choices

Thread Starter
So i had some freetime today i went on BIOS to review some of the thing and disabled RAID choices, now its not booting with the message "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

My is RAID-0 sata interface

under the devices configuration in bios, there are four sata channels

to get my RAID-0 to enable i only need 1st and 2nd channels ENABLED, 3rd and 4th i can have them disabled. because when i first set the Raid-0 over a year ago i had all four sata channels Enabled, what i did earlier was disabled channel 3 and 4. saved and exit, now i get this stupid error saying there is no boot disk

where i do go from here to get it to boot again?

Are you able to boot with them enabled again?

Go back into BIOS and enable them all again. Just so you know the physical port labels and the BIOS labels for SATA are not always the same. Annoying, yes.
Once again...

there are also 4other IDE drives in the system too, is it because its now trying to detect from IDE drives and not my RAID-0 since all IDE drives are storage

i solved the problem, I did set the boot devices in the order of Removeable and CDROM then HardDrive, but there is another sub menu for bootable harddrives.

ok now, i no longer the error msg but instead, the "_" blinking, and not booting

yes, i did try enable them all but still nothing...

one of the other thing i did but forgot to mention, was i deleted the array, thinking it will then set the raid to 1st priority boot disk again after re-created the raid again. I chose not to delete any data when a popup menu came up, i'm expecting all the data still intact...

Generally, deleting the array = data gone. Not sure what kind of pop up that was

In the RAID Mode, there are five shortcuts menu,
[ctrl-x] exit, [up/down] select, [b] set boot, [n] new array, [enter] detail

i hit ENTER, it give four othe Menu,
[r] rebuild, [d] delete, [c] clear disk, [enter] return
hit D, promted for Deleting array?, hit YES, from here, i'm in a new window, with given choices to add new array, TRIPING was picked for RAID-0, that was done and ready to exit this window, a new prompt asking "clear disk data", [y]/[n], hit NO, and new array is done, boot it up and i get black screen with "_" blink..

i think the data is still there, and the OS is dectected, but for some odd reason it does not boot into window, otherwise, i would have gotten the "DISK FAILURE..." message

If you didn't have a backup of your RAID configuration, and it was anything other then RAID 1, I think you're screwed. Someone stressed to me to make a backup of my RAID configuration, otherwise I get hosed if my RAID card dies.

The moment you DELETED the array, your data was gone.

However, when you rebuilt the array in the same session, tehre might still be traces of the boot sector. That's why yuo get your errors.

are you serious, ok, that was stupid

i need to retrieve these files somehow, all my projects are on this RAID, do you guys know if there is a possibility to get the data back from broken array? I google it up and i found a few company offering RAID 0 and RAID 5 Data recover software upto $500.00 , i am willing to pay to get my data back...

this is horible, i had very important school projects it'll due soon and my cousin wedding video still editing.

ok, the company softwares suggest that their software can recover RAID data are, Active Undelete v5.1, RAID reconstructor v3.03, RAID 0 Recover v1.09....

any suggestions?

First,
DO NOT under any circumstances do ANYTHING with those drives. The array seems to be broken.

The data might indeed be recoverable. Try to find a service that charges a nominal fee to determine IF the data can indeed be recovered, and only charges the hefty fee for actually recovering he data. Nothing is worse to pay $500 for them to tell yuo it can't be recovered....
