Silverstone Tj-06 VS. Thermaltake Armor(56k 2 pics) - Page 2

I like the Armor one better because the other one just looks kinda simple in the front compared to the Armor.

Edit: Thanks Stargate...I guess I was too drunk when I posted this last night

Then you haven't truly played with one if that is what you think.

I have that silverstone case. I cant stand it. It has caused me soooo much trouble. The motherboard is upside down, which at first I thought was cool but then my 8 pin and 24 pin connectors from my psu didnt reach my motherboard and it took forever for me to find a place that carried some extensions (that were decent, not crap ones) so I had my psu outside on the floor for a while hooked up.

The airflow in that case is HORRID. there are no vents at the top, or fans or anything so the hard drives, optical drives and psu can get really hot. Ive taken the side off and put my hand in and you can feel the huge heat difference between the bottom and top of the case. I eventually just took the side panel off and left it that way because ambient temps dropped a bunch just by doing that.
I never used the wind tunnel thing because it woudnt fit with my cooler so that might help but I dont know for sure.

Trying to install everything in the case was a major pain. It was definitely not as "toolless" as they claim. I had to unscrew the clips that hold the graphics card in because mine takes up two slots, and the push down holder things only allow for one. So I took them off, put the card in and then screwed them back on and tried my best to get it to stay put securely (it still isnt the best). Then there were other misc. problems with getting the mobo to fit squarely over the holes for the screws and different things.

Its a big case but there doesnt seem to be all that much actual room to maneuver inside the case though.

The clips on the back for taking on and off the side panels are of poor quality in my opinion. Cable management was also pretty difficult but it can be done.

It is a very sturdy case though. I replaced all the fans with the silverstone fm 121's and that helped out on the airflow a lot, I could put the side panel back on and it kept the temperatures down better. It looks pretty cool too I think.

I had a bad experience with it, but many reviews loved it and lots of people really seem to like it so maybe I was just having a bad day when I put my computer together. There must be something people like about it, so make sure you read all the good things people have to say about it also.

But the airflow in it is pretty bad though, I do have to say.

Apparently not. Thought I did own a CM Stacker STC-T01. So I guess it kinda jaded the armor completely for me.

Yeah, the Stacker's design is very nice. I would have gone with that but for the Armor's ability to switch between 5.25" bays and 3.5" bays without effort, regardless of the position on the case. Only negative thing is the fact that the Armor uses 90mm fans instead of 92mm for the upper rear and top fans. They sell a good quality 90mm fan, but I would prefer to have more choices.

Sadly, I know. The CM 5.25'' - 4x3.5'' cages were nearly impossible to come by.

Honestly, I like the looks of the Stacker 830/832 better than the Armor, but the Armor was just so much more compatible with things, and had an extra fan in the rear. Plus, I only had room for it by my feet so it was going to get kicked, thus I needed something steel to withstand the punishment I would dish out.
