Blank screen after rebuild? - Page 2

did you try the screen in both cards and when seperate in both Xpress slots? cause it could be that you hooked the monitor to the card that is not initialized as the primary (running your screen card) by the bios, or it was in the wrong slot.
Also there is an configuration in CMOS that lets you choose which PCIXpress slot is your primary display adapter slot......resetting the CMOS as stated earlier would do the trick,

Edit :you don't have to pull the battery out, turn off the power and use the jumper

a shortcircuit is also possible, only in my experience, when there was indeed a shortcircuit, the PC fans would spin for 1sec and the PSU powers off (shortcircuit protection)

I have never had a speaker hooked up on this PC so I have no audible beeps.
There is nothing hooked up to the cpu fan connection on the board.

I will try and put one on and see what happens.
if you hook up the case speaker, you are prob... getting an error code with beeps. Get the owners manual for the mb and read what the beep code is and it will prob... solve all of your problems. Sad thing is it's usually something simple and you will hit yourself in the head when you figure it out.

one of my GTXs hit my on the head earlier.
It wa son top of the case and I lent the case over and it slid off.

I tried the moving the jumper across to the other pin and also removed the battery for awhile.
Still nothing.

If I pull the lead out of the GPU the monitor chnages for a second and detects digital input then goes to sleep mode.

I will have to try and get a speaker from somewhere?!?!

Cogno,

Follow these steps verbatim with ONE gpu:

Here's what you need to do:
1. Power off pc, remove plug.
2. Pull cmos battery.
3. move jumper to clrtc position, (see manual if necessary).
4. Plug in pc and power on, pc should post.
5. Power off, remove plug.
6. move clrtc jumper to original position.
7. replace cmos battery.
8. you should be good to go.

I had numerous fits when I first got this board, this is a somewhat strange way to effect a cmos reset, but it's from the Asus forum, and it works.

Edit:^^ chozart beat me to it.....

check for screws under your mobo, and run it out of the case....

Also if that does not work remove the waterblock and re-apply Thermal paste or try booting with the stock cooler

Okay I'll try that, will give it a go in the morning, off out shortly.

Thanks guys

I hope to report back tomorrow if this Zalman cooler is any good too!
Reserator 2 is a bad watercooler for SLI gtx's and oc'ed parts since there is no active cooling (fans). Its not a radiator either, its considered a water pot cause it hold its water in a tank to cool down instead of running through a finned pipe. If silence is what you are going for, then yes the Zalman is a good silent cooler. You will get better temps than your air, but it will not beat some of the kits you build yourself for higher performance. One more thing, Do it yourself kits can be as silent as you want them to be also

I hope you get your system back up, I would think it would be a grounded motherboard, so try running your mobo on a static bag. Also, check all the power plugs.
