newegg's return policy is that under 25 bux they will just refund your money, you dont have to ship the item back. worked out great when the fan on my thermaltake chipset cooler died. they refunded the full 23 bux so i ordered a new 40mm fan for it (for 3 bux) and now have a $3 working chipset cooler.

9 blades.. hmm, if you snap off every 3rd blade then it should be balance (that involves breaking 2 more off)

I did it. I also sanded off whatever was left of the blades to increase symmetry. Here is a picture of the retarded FM121 and one of the two next to each other:
