Your temps should be high, but no where near 75c idle.
And putting as5 on the stock heatsink cools very little, if any better than the stock stuff. (From my own experience and what I've heard many times)

K reseated and used that super nice guide you linked me to, I am now idling around 56-60, is it safe to at least use the computer for a few hours? Maybe play some counter strike source?

15-20C drop is amazing!!

Check to see what the temp is on load. (TAT or Orthos).

I say you should be good to use it now, even for a little bit of gaming.

Useable yes... but when is your tt120 getting there? I am betting that even 50% load on one maybe two cores is putting you in the danger zone... I would take it easy or see if you can lower the cvore on a stock clock till your cooler arrives.

Haven't even ordered it yet, I wanted to do water cooling and was going to use stock heatsync for a few weeks, had no idea it would run this hot. If I had to run to tigerdirect outlet store (there is one by my house) the best heatsync they have is this one http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4&Sku=ULT33186
What do you guys think of this? Go get this tomorrow or should I wait and order a tt120 or thermalright 120 extreme. I mean from what I read a good heatsync might take off 5-6c? I will still be running 48 on idle? I can also purchase some case fans when I am at tigerdirect, link me to anything you might think I need on the tigerdirect website, the store that is by my house is connected to the warehouse so they have anything that is on the website. Thanks again for your guys help, as you can see I am a total newb at this stuff and this is my first time putting a computer together.

By the way I purchased this computer from ebay (I know a lot of people are against this but it was a no risk purchase, an amazing deal and the guy has been really great about everything) Do you think anything is wrong with the cpu? or did I do any damage to it? I can get my money back any time so just let me know what you think. FYI I am running 2 case fans inside of an original CM stacker with the stock heatsync.

you didnt link anything and that stock heatsink should do alot better maybe your cpu or heatsink is concave and not getting good contact.

Don't play games just yet, and DO NOT run any stress tests as long your idle is in the ~60C range.

Just browse and stuff..and let the rig idle overnignht.

Ghetto mod a 120mm fan blowing hard at the stock cooler. that might help a bit.
