need a little help...

Thread Starter
I just finished putting together my first pc and it came together quite nicely. Everything worked fine and I was able to get to the Bios screen, but now I am stuck. I have enabled the raid option in the bios because I want to set up my 2 seagates in a raid-o config.

I do not know what to do from here. I will be using Vista as my OC and my question (although probably rather dumb) is this. Do I now go ahead and put in the vista CD and begin installing vista? The only reason I am hesitant to do this is because I have heard that I will need a floppy drive with the raid drivers on there to insert when vista prompts me to. Now what I have tried is booting up the comp with the mobo support disk inserted (I am using a ASUS p5n32 680 mobo btw). What came up was an option to create floppy disk containing raid drivers for either 32 or 64 bit windows 2000/XP, there was no option for Vista. When I went to insert my disk, my computer spat out an error saying it could not read the A drive... My first question is why is this happening? My second is, once I am able to get the FDD working, will creating a floppy disk with the XP raid drivers work?

If my steps are correct I will need to create this floppy disk, and then insert vista and begin to install, that way I can insert the floppy with the drivers when they are needed. Now I have also heard that Vista can retrieve the drivers from a disk which would alleviate my problems completely. Does anybody know if this is true? And if so, is that just a matter of taking out the vista disk and putting in the mobo cd?

any and all help is very much appreciated, thanks a lot

Insert the Vista CD and then when it prompts you hit F3 (i think) and insert the floppy then choose 32 or 64 bit...whichever OS you have. Doesnt matter if it says XP should work for Vista.
Very nice!
