CS:S Error

Thread Starter
I recently had to reinstall windows due to an unknown error... however after the installation, for some reason when I play CS:S now, I'm getting this weird error:

Disconnect: ProcessUsercmds: Incorrect reading frame (check sending and receiving code for mismatches)!

I NEVER received such error before, and I've been playing CS:S on this comp for a good 6 months now.

The error is not going away and it happens to me in games/scrims. It basically renders the game non-playable. I was wondering if ANYONE have a clue how to solve this problem? Or can it be solved?

Have you changed routers lately or upgraded firmware?

I have heard that this issue can occur with linksys routers. Here is a thread about it.

Let us know if that is not the issue.

EDIT:
Here is a post on the steam forums on how to fix the issue (if you have a linksys router).

sti_boy... yea I did some searching around and yes that is my problem. I do have a linksys router. But what's weird is that prior to the installation, I was also using my router and never encountered any disconnection or reading frame problems. Thanks for the links, I wonder why I couldn't find that article on the Steam site when I searched.

Its possible that re-installing windows changed some libarary or dll that un-masks the bug. If you have your OS, steam and CS:S updated to the latest and greatest, I can only suggest that you roll back your router firmware. I also have a linksys router with firmware v4.20.7, Aug. 18, 2005 and CS:S works great. No issues with this older FW at all, and I think the FW they want you to use is newer than mine.
